Texas ShootOut

So, this is where we were this weekend! After a lot of planning and hard work, FINALLY! Texas ShootOut!


We had guys come from as far as Canada!
But San Antonio took home the trophy.

The winner of the Texas ShootOut was Michael Robinson from San Antonio. Michael beat DeWon McDaniel on Sunday after two and half days of round-robins and tourney play. It was very exciting! These pictures that are seen here were taken about midnight on Saturday night. There was just too much going on that I forgot to take pics! There were A LOT more people here during the day. These pics were taken late at night while the last three tournaments for Saturday were being played.

We had lots of interest from people that just happened to be in the hotel! Thanks Channel 5 and Star Telegram for your interest, too!

We were at the AmeriSuites in Arlington on 360. There was a soccer team here from Oklahoma and an Assembly of God church group staying at the hotel as well. It was really neat to see men come down and watch with their sons. They really got into the play and excitement. One man ordered two painted sets from Ira because he was so excited to see his son so interested and couldn't wait to go home and teach this to his son. He said it brought back so many memories from his youth. "This is way better than anything you can do with an XBox" he said.
"This is hands on, hands down, more fun!"
I agree, it's a great, competitive, SPORT. Yes, I said SPORT - that fathers and sons can do together. They can compete, play football together and be on an equal playing field.

Other comments that we love to hear and do hear often are:
"Where do we get the boards?"
"You mean they are still selling these things?!"
"Hey! How do you keep them from spinning around in circles?!"
"Man, this is nothing like the way we used to play it when I was a kid."
"You mean we're using a REAL referee???"
"What's up with shaking the box of dice?"
"Why are there two timers?"
"Man, this is fast paced!"
"Where can we get the stadiums?"
"Hey! There are tiny facemasks on those football figures!"

Ira and Reg along with the other members of the DFW EFL League were able to fully show and explain their way of play that best simulates actual football and strategy. Hands on, clocks ticking, count-downs counting, buzzers buzzing, high fives going, voices booming with excitement. It was GREAT!

Special thanks to all of the referees, time keepers and statistic keepers. We couldn't have done it all without you!

Next year we are hoping to have a full Junior Tournament as well because there was sooooo much interest.
